Johor Darul Ta’Zim edge first 3 points in this season and edge 9th title in this trophy after beating Selangor FC, scoring 3-0 in the Piala Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah(Piala Sumbangsih) 2025/26 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The Southern Tigers wasted no time asserting dominance. Just two minutes in, Samu Castillejo orchestrated a slick move, threading the ball to Jonathan Silva, whose pass into the box found Jairo Da Silva. A composed finish put JDT ahead 1-0, sending the home crowd into early celebration.
Despite several promising opportunities to double their lead, JDT were kept at bay for the remainder of the first half, heading into the break with a narrow advantage.
The second half saw JDT shift into a higher gear. In the 63rd minute, Eddy Israfilov rose at the near post to nod home a precise cross, extending the lead to 2-0. Just ten minutes later, Arif Aiman showcased his trademark composure, firing low at the near post to make it 3-0 and effectively seal the contest.
JDT continued to push for a fourth goal, but resolute Selangor defending denied them further joy. The final whistle confirmed yet another piece of silverware for the Southern Tigers, who have now lifted the Piala Sumbangsih for the ninth time.
