“I’m proud, I’m excited. Everyone I’ve spoken to about Leicester City has great things to say about the club, the supporters, and its recent history. I’m eager to start, get to know everyone, and give everything I can to this football club.”
Van Nistelrooy enjoyed an illustrious playing career, representing elite clubs like PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, and Real Madrid. He scored an incredible 349 goals at the club level and added 35 more in 70 appearances for the Netherlands.
Renowned for his sharp instincts, technical ability, and leadership, van Nistelrooy has carried these traits into his managerial career. His tactical acumen and ability to inspire players have drawn praise, making him a natural fit for Leicester City’s ambitions.
Van Nistelrooy will officially take over First Team duties on Sunday, with Ben Dawson, Danny Alcock, and Andy Hughes overseeing the team’s visit to Brentford. His first match in charge will be against West Ham United at King Power Stadium on Tuesday, where fans will get their first glimpse of the Dutchman’s leadership on the touchline.
Leicester City is embarking on a fresh chapter with van Nistelrooy at the helm. His experience working under legendary managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Robson, and Fabio Capello has shaped his approach to football, blending discipline, creativity, and a relentless drive for success.
