Japan Football Association(JFA) has official statement for confirmed Junya Ito will withdraw from Japan national team in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 after Sexual Assault reports.
Junya, it was reported that following media reports, two women had accused him of sexual assault, a claim he denies.
“We would like to inform you that Junya Ito (Stade Reims) will be leaving the SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team) team competing in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which is being held in Qatar . Please note that no player will be called up to replace Ito.” JFA said.
“Regarding some reports regarding Junya Ito, the Japan Football Association (JFA) understands that the parties concerned have different claims regarding the reported facts and believes that a careful response is required. After considering Ito’s physical and mental condition, the JFA has decided that Ito will leave the team as of today. We apologise for causing concern to the many people who support SAMURAI BLUE and Ito.”
Junya Ito will play 3 matches in AFC Asian Cup 2023 and benched in the match against Bahrain in Round of 16.
