Haqimi Azim Rosli, striker of the Malaysia national team from Kuala Lumpur City, is ready if he is given a big role to play in the ‘number 9’ position for Malaysia in a match against Kyrgyz Republic national team in FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D this Thursday.
However, Harimau Malaya will travel to Kyrgyzstan without several senior strikers, including Darren Lok, Syafiq Ahmad and Romel Morales, due to injury.
Therefore, Pan-Gon needs to rely on existing players such as Paulo Josue, Haqimi and Engku Muhammad Nur Shakir Engku Yacob to bear the big responsibility in the attack position.
“If given the opportunity I will do my best, but now we have Paulo (Josue) and many can also play the number 9 position.” Haqimi said.
“Whoever is placed for the match (against Kyrgyzstan) will do their best. If I am placed as number 9, I will give 100 percent to show Malaysians that I can play in that position.”
“It’s a big responsibility because I haven’t played with the Harimau Malaya senior team for a long time. It will give me experience and I have to learn a lot,”
Malaysia will be in action for the fifth match of Group D against the Kyrgyz Republic on Thursday, 6 June 2024, at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, Bishkek before flying home for the sixth match against Chinese Taipei at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, on Tuesday, 11 June 2024.
