Malaysia’s mixed doubles stars Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei continue to shine on the BWF World Tour, moving one step closer to their first title of the season after storming into the Australian Open semi-finals today.
The world No.4 pair and tournament’s top seeds showed authority on court, cruising past world No.17 Taiwanese duo Ye Hong Wei–Nicole Chan with a confident 21-17, 21-15 victory in just 37 minutes at Sydney Olympic Park.
The win also extends the Malaysians’ head-to-head dominance to 4–1 over the Taiwanese pair, underlining their growing consistency and control against top challengers.
Up next, Tang Jie–Ee Wei will face the winners of the all-Thai clash between Pakkapon Teeraratsakul–Sapsiree Taerattanachai, with a spot in tomorrow’s final on the line.
Despite achieving their career-defining moment by lifting the World Championship title in Paris last August, the Malaysian pair have yet to secure a World Tour crown this season.
Their best results so far include finishing runners-up at the China Masters and reaching six other semi-finals across major tournaments — Denmark Open, Macau Open, Japan Open, Indonesia Open, India Open and Malaysia Open.
