Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has announced an exciting partnership with Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia), marking a significant milestone in the development of Malaysian badminton.
As BAM’s official Financial Services Partner, Allianz Malaysia is poised to provide invaluable support to players and coaches, enhancing their journey toward excellence on the global stage.
This collaboration brings a strong commitment from Allianz Malaysia to safeguard the well-being of BAM athletes and coaches as they compete internationally. Senior and junior players, along with their coaches, will benefit from comprehensive travel protection, allowing them to focus fully on achieving success without the distractions of logistical and financial uncertainties.
In addition to supporting athletes, Allianz Malaysia will become the title sponsor of the Allianz Malaysia SUPER 100 tournament, set to take place in October at Juara Stadium. This move underscores the company’s dedication to promoting badminton excellence in Malaysia and providing a platform for players to showcase their talent on home soil.
Datuk V. Subramaniam, Acting President of BAM, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the collaboration:
“Allianz Malaysia is a leading insurance company in our country. Globally, they are involved in world-class sporting competitions, including the Olympics. Their active involvement in Malaysian sports makes this partnership particularly meaningful, and we are honoured to have Allianz Malaysia join us on this journey to elevate Malaysian badminton.”
He further emphasized the vital role corporate leaders play in the success of BAM’s programmes, noting that the partnership will not only benefit the association but also inspire and motivate players to perform at their best.
Allianz Malaysia’s dedication to nurturing young badminton talent is already well-established. Since 2022, the company has been organizing the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC), which has seen tremendous success. Last year, over 3,000 young players participated across 10 qualifying rounds held nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak.
Allianz Malaysia covered all expenses for finalists, including transportation and accommodation, ensuring that aspiring players had an equal opportunity to shine in the AJBC Grand Finals.
Sean Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia, shared his vision:
“Allianz is committed to supporting sports globally through our sponsorship of major events, including the Olympics and Paralympics. Considering the success of the AJBC and its impact on junior players, we wanted to expand our contribution to Malaysian badminton at the national level.”
He also expressed excitement about the Allianz Malaysia SUPER 100 event, stating that it will serve as another testament to their commitment to the sport.
The partnership between BAM and Allianz Malaysia signals a promising future for Malaysian badminton. As the association continues to work closely with its new partner, initiatives like the AJBC and the SUPER 100 tournament will provide a solid foundation for talent development and international success.
