The AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, Group B between Laos and Vietnam, was played at the New Laos National Stadium. This match was the 7th time Laos and Vietnam met, where Vietnam won 6 times over Laos.
In the first quarter, Vietnam was better than Laos, where they kept attacking to score a goal. Vietnam had the lead in the 15th minute when Nguyen Tien Linh headed the ball into the bottom left corner, 1-0. Vietnam initiated a pressing attack almost 19 times, compared to the home, Laos, which had only five times.
Vietnam’s striker tried Laos’ keeper, but it was all blocked. Only before the first half, Vietnam scored again, with Do Hung Dung attempting and shoot after the ball left inside the area. The visitor now has two goals in front.
The second half didn’t change much, as the visitor pressed aggressively. Vietnam saw a chance of almost scoring a goal in front of the goalpost around the 53rd minute, but the ball missed, unfortunately.
Shortly after T.T. Ho scored a volley crossed by his teammate outside of the box, giving Vietnam a comfortable lead in front. Vietnam has 3, and Laos remains 0.
Another goal came not long after when Vietnam scored again! They grabbed the chance after an interception, and V.H. Sian scored it! 4-0 to the visitor.
Again, in the 81st minute, Vietnam scored. A low shot by V. Nguyen lets Laos’ keeper can’t catch it as the ball curled a little bit to the right. Vietnam is sitting comfortably at the front. Although they have the lead in front, that doesn’t make them stop attacking.
The sixth goal came in near the end of the game when Vu Van Thanh scored right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner with a through ball.
The game ended with Vietnam 6, Laos 0. Vietnam is sitting on top of Group B with 3 points alongside Malaysia after the Harimau Malaya win against Myanmar earlier today. Vietnam will face the Harimau Malaya on 27 December 2022 next.
