Iraq U23 national team taking the ticket to the Men’s Football Olympic 2024 in Paris, France, after beating the Indonesia U23 national team in the extra time 2-1 in the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 3rd place match at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.
In the beginning match, the side of Indonesia attacked and had a chance to reach the goal.
In the 19th minute, following Witan Sulaiman’s shot into the box, defensive Iraq blocked, but the ball bounced to Ivar Jenner and shot outside the box to the goal; Indonesia led 1-0.
But after a not long time, in the 27th minute, following a corner kick of Iraq and Zaid Tahseen’s header in close range to the goal. Iraq equalizer 1-1.
In the remaining time of the first half, there was no additional score, and by the end of the first half, both teams tied 1-1.
In the second half, both teams found the chance to reach their goal but couldn’t succeed; ended of the second half, both teams were tied 1-1 and continued to extra time.
In the extra time, in the 96th minute, following a fast break of Iraq and Muntadher Mohammed’s passing to Ali Jasim’s shot to the left post, Iraq led 2-1
The remaining time of extra time had no additional score, ending Iraq’s win 2-1, taking a 3rd ticket and qualifying for the Olympic 2024
Indonesia, the loser of this match, will qualify to the AFC-CAF Play-off with Guinea U23 national team, 4th place from Africa on 9 May 2024 at INF Clairefontaine Stadium, Paris.
