Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially responded to the decision announced by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on September 26, 2025, regarding the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and several Malaysian national team players found to be in breach of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The AFC stated that it has taken note of FIFA’s ruling, which involves sanctions against both FAM and seven players for alleged forgery and falsification of eligibility documentation.
“The AFC acknowledges the seriousness of this matter and the potential implications of this decision for its competitions. The AFC will carefully review the situation in line with the applicable regulations once the FIFA proceedings have been fully concluded,” the confederation confirmed in an official statement.
The governing body also clarified that the issue remains under the jurisdiction of FIFA and emphasized that it will not provide further comment on ongoing or completed investigations, which fall exclusively under the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
This development comes at a critical time for Malaysian football, as the national team’s qualification path for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ may be affected pending the outcome of appeals and further tribunal reviews.
