Terengganu FC have officially announced Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamad as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ending months of speculation over the club’s top leadership position.
The former AEON Big managing director, who most recently served as CEO of the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF), takes over from Mohd Sabri Abas, who vacated the role in May after being appointed Secretary of the Dungun Municipal Council.
“Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd (TFCSB) is pleased to appoint Mr. Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamad Al-Bajrai as our new CEO,” the club confirmed in its statement. “During the vacancy, Chief Operating Officer Mr. Mohd Syahrizan Mohd Zain had been serving as acting CEO.”
The appointment was earlier hinted at by Hishamuddin Abdul Karim, Terengganu’s State Executive Councillor for Youth Development, Sports & NGOs, who revealed that the role would go to a proven corporate figure.
Sheikh Farouk brings with him a wealth of both corporate and football experience. He has previously collaborated with the Malaysian Football League (MFL), FAM, and even Terengganu itself during his AEON Big tenure, particularly in areas of marketing and sponsorship. He also sits on FAM’s Marketing and Sponsorship Committee and serves as an advisor to the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf).
His appointment signals a continued push for strong corporate governance and commercial growth at Terengganu FC, one of Malaysia’s most ambitious clubs in recent years.
