2025/26 Liga A1 Semi-Pro is set to kick off in late July 2025, running through May 2026, with 12 teams officially confirmed to participate in what promises to be an exciting and competitive season.
The new campaign welcomes four new teams, five returning sides, and three feeder clubs, all ready to battle it out in a competition that continues to gain traction among local football fans.
According to Amateur Football League (AFL) Chairman, Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, the 12 confirmed teams are:
- Armed Forces FC
- Manjung City FC
- Imigresen FC II
- Johor Darul Ta’zim II
- Selangor FC II
- Kelantan WTS FC
- Kedah FA
- Machan FC
- Kelantan Red Warriors FC
- Bunga Raya FC
- Malaysian University
- Perak Football Association (PAFA)
“These teams have successfully fulfilled the requirements for entry into the upcoming A1 Semi-Pro League,” Yusoff confirmed after the AFL Board of Directors meeting in Shah Alam.
In addition, three teams have been granted conditional approval to join the league, pending final documentation and compliance.
The conditionally approved teams are:
- Kedah Darul Aman (KDA)
- Guar Syed Alwi FC (GSA FC)
- Seoul Phoenix FC (a Korean-based team headquartered in the Klang Valley)
“They’ve been given until June 15, 2025, to complete and submit all necessary documents. If successful, the league will expand to 14 teams, as originally planned,” he explained.
“If not, we are still ready to proceed confidently with the current 12 fully approved teams,” he added.
Last season’s competition saw Melaka FC crowned champions, while Imigresen FC finished as runners-up — both earning promotion to the Malaysia Super League 2025/26 on merit.
