Two-time MotoGP world champion Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia has made his stance clear ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season—if given a choice, he would rather continue alongside Enea Bastianini than share a garage with Marc Marquez.
Speaking candidly at a recent event, Bagnaia did not shy away from expressing his preference for Bastianini, with whom he has built a strong working relationship over the past two years.
“Who would I want as my teammate? I would rather be with Enea Bastianini,” he stated. “We’ve known each other for a long time, we get along well, and we work in a way that creates a great atmosphere in the team. But now, everything changes with Marc Marquez joining Ducati.”
While Bagnaia acknowledges the shockwave caused by Marquez’s arrival at the Ducati factory team, he also sees it as a source of motivation rather than concern.
“I always got along well with Enea, but having Marc in the team is not a bad thing—it presents a new challenge,” Bagnaia admitted. “He’s an eight-time world champion, and this year he could fight for another title. That pushes me to improve even more.”
Despite the intensified competition within Ducati, Bagnaia insists he won’t be altering his riding style to accommodate Marquez’s presence.
“I won’t change anything,” he declared. “I know when to be aggressive and ruthless on track when needed.”
His remarks align with Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi’s belief—expressed in the Dream On documentary—that Bagnaia shouldn’t always be a “gentleman” on the track. Clearly, Bagnaia is prepared to face Marquez head-on as both teammate and fierce competitor.
With Bagnaia and Marquez set to share Ducati’s factory garage, the 2025 season promises one of the fiercest intra-team battles in MotoGP history. Two world champions, two dominant riding styles—only one can emerge as Ducati’s top rider.
