Johor Darul Ta’zim are gearing up for a massive test as they face Melbourne City FC in the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 League Stage (East Zone) at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne.
Head coach Xisco Muñoz stressed the importance of caution and strong game management as the Southern Tigers prepare to face an opponent that has shown clear signs of resurgence in the ACLE under Australian tactician Aurelio Vidmar.
“The most important thing for every player to understand is that we must be fully prepared to face this Australian club,” Xisco said.
“They have a very different squad compared to last season, and we cannot deny they are a strong team.”
Despite acknowledging the challenge of playing away, Xisco remains upbeat about his team’s readiness.
“We will go there and give our best, even though it’s a tough task.
We are ready to show high-intensity football because we know they will also play aggressively.”
Melbourne City currently sit fourth in the A-League, having played just five matches, while JDT lead the Liga Super Malaysia after completing 10 games.
The encounter is expected to be a tactical and aggressive contest, with both sides known for their structured build-up and high-pressing style.
Despite the hurdles, JDT are determined to push for a positive result on Australian soil, aiming to strengthen their position in the ACLE and continue their impressive 2025 campaign.
