Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand, has continued to show strong support by personally encouraging the Thailand women’s U20 national team during their campaign at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
The football chief, widely known as “Madam Pang”, made phone calls to motivate the Young Chaba Kaew players after their opening comeback victory against Bangladesh 3-2 and again following their impressive 4-1 win over Vietnam.
Following the latest triumph, Lamsam also announced a 500,000 baht bonus for the squad after they officially secured qualification to the quarter-finals of the continental tournament being hosted in Thailand.
Thailand’s U20 side has already confirmed its place in the last eight alongside China from Group A, and the two teams will meet in the final group match on April 7, with the group winner still to be decided.
The AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 also serves as the Asian qualification pathway to the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026, which will be hosted in Poland in September.
The top four teams in the Asian tournament — those reaching the semi-finals — will secure tickets to the global showpiece.
For Thailand, the stakes are especially significant. The Young Chaba Kaew are aiming to qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup for the first time in 22 years, having last appeared in the competition in 2004, when Thailand participated as the host nation.
