The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced “Tan Cheng Hoe” resigned from head coach of Malaysia national team.
Tan Cheng Hoe was made Head coach of Malaysia national team in 2018 after “Nelo Vingada” Portugese head coach resign following a string of poor results.
His departure came on the back of the Malaysia abysmal performance at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, where they suffered an early group stage exit with losses to Vietnam and Indonesia in 2 last matches.
“Cheng Hoe had a discussion with the FAM management and stated his wish [to leave] following his side’s failure to reach the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals in Singapore.” FAM said in official statement
“After an open discussion with all parties, the FAM management in the end agreed to respect his decision and allow Cheng Hoe to leave by mutual consent,”
“His services and contributions will always be remembered. Thank you.”
“Good luck also to Cheng Hoe in continuing his coaching career after this.”
