Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that it already has plan B in case the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, is not ready to play against Oman in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 on 26 March 2024.
Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), explained that his party would visit the Bukit Jalil National Stadium early next month before deciding whether the match against Oman could occur at the private arena or vice versa.
Which venue options included Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri and Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Kuala Terengganu.
Now, the condition of the field of Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, was still uncertain after it was used for a concert by Ed Sheeran on 25 February.
“We will visit the National Stadium in early March to see for ourselves the condition of the field. If the condition is not good, we will go somewhere else. We must look first, even though PSM (Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia) has announced steps to ensure the field is in good condition.” DHMA said after the Town Hall session for FAM women’s football yesterday.
“However, the important thing is that at the beginning of March we will see whether he can be used for the March 26 match against Oman or not. I feel that if Bukit Jalil is not good, maybe (will play at) the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.”
“I haven’t informed the Acting Sultan of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, yet. If I can’t, Terengganu, that’s the best because Kim Pan Gon wants good quality fields,”
