Somkiat Chantra, a Thai star rider from IDEMITSU Honda LCR will make history in 2025 as the first Thai rider set for a debut in the MotoGP campaign in season 2025.
This marks a significant milestone in Chantra’s career and in the sport, as he becomes a symbol of the success of the IDEMITSU MotoGP™ project, which was created in 2018 to help young Asian riders reach the highest levels of competition.
IDEMITSU Honda LCR’s Team Principal, Lucio Cecchinello, expressed gratitude to Takaaki Nakagami for his seven seasons of dedication to the team and looked forward to welcoming Chantra into MotoGP.
Cecchinello highlighted Chantra’s potential and skills, which he has demonstrated during his years in Moto2, and believes that with the support of LCR and Honda, Chantra will thrive in the premier class of motorcycle racing.
Chantra, thrilled by the opportunity, expressed his excitement and determination to make the most of this dream come true. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but is fully committed to giving his best effort in this new chapter of his career.
