Malaysia women’s national team out from group stage by defeat results all 3 matches after losing to Myanmar women’s national team with a score of 1-5 in the Women’s Football in SEA Games 2023 at RCAF Old Stadium, Phnom Penh.
The defeat in the last action of the Group A stage saw Malaysia end the competition without any points as they also lost to Vietnam (0-3) and the Philippines (0-1) in the previous two actions.
Going down hoping for a miracle to qualify for the semi-finals, the national team’s goal was however conceded as early as the third minute through July Kyaw’s explosion.
Khin Marlar Tun then helped his team to end the first half more comfortably when he contributed two goals in the 26th and 39th minutes.
However, Malaysia managed to narrow the gap through Intan Sarah Anisah Zulgafli’s explosion in the 58th minute, thus becoming the only goal of the national women’s squad throughout this tournament.
The position, however, only lasted four minutes when Myanmar added a fourth goal through San Thaw Thaw before the player confirmed his team’s stylish victory by scoring the fifth goal with eight minutes left in the match.
