The grassroots football development program in Muallim has taken an exciting turn with the Proton Tanjung Malim Club organizing the Proton Tanjung Malim Club President’s Cup Football Development League Tournament. The tournament, held on August 3 and 4, 2024, at the Proton Sports Complex, featured under-12 football teams from the region.
Hassan Subli, President of the Proton Tanjung Malim Club, emphasized that the tournament is part of a broader initiative to foster grassroots sports development, providing a platform for children in the Muallim district to showcase their football talents. “We are organizing this tournament to give children, especially in the Muallim district, a chance to display their talents while also boosting the vibrancy of sports within the community,” he said.
The tournament was officially opened by Hj Rodzal Had, Head of HRBP Proton PONSB and Leader of the Proton Tanjung Malim Club. He expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its role in preserving sports culture among the grassroots. He noted that this effort would help develop not only competitive athletes but also well-rounded individuals who excel in both sports and academics.
“With the growing enthusiasm for football in our country, it’s essential to continue hosting tournaments that focus on talent development. The Proton Tanjung Malim Club’s initiative to leverage all available resources and facilities is crucial in nurturing young talent and strengthening the football industry in Malaysia, while also showcasing the beauty and tranquility of Muallim,” he said.
The tournament featured 16 under-12 teams, with Kuala Kangsar FA Junior emerging as champions after defeating Tunas Kinta Utara Academy 3-1 in the final.
The next event in the series, the Under-16 Development League Cup, is scheduled to take place on September 7 and 8, 2024, at the Proton Sports Complex.
