Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan, President of Malaysian Football League(MFL), gave some insight into the FFP mechanism and how the financial regulations will be implemented for each team to ensure that the issue of salary arrears does not become more serious.
The Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations that the Malaysian Football League (MFL) will introduce as another instrument to curb the issue of salary arrears will be implemented according to the ‘references’ and capabilities of the Malaysian League (League M).
“The FFP will follow the style and capabilities of our own league. God willing (we can curb the issue of salary arrears) because they (the team) will have to announce the budget and allocation, then it (the budget) will be sent to the MFL.” MFL president said.
“From there, for example, they get a budget of RM10 million, so MFL will allow them to spend only RM8 million, the remaining RM2 million will be kept for processing or so on.”
“We must not allow them to spend RM10 million on the team. They must have savings at the club level itself,”
Previously, MFL Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Stuart Ramalingam, confirmed that the FFP regulations would be introduced in the near future, but their implementation in the context of the M League will definitely be different from the FFP approach that has been used in the world’s leading leagues.
