Selangor FC advanced to Quarter-Final round after beating Sri Pahang FC with a score of 4-0 in the Piala FA Malaysia 2023 round of 16 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
The glorious night for the Red Giants started in the 41st minute when Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi managed to open the scoring after his shot failed to be saved by Sri Pahang’s goalkeeper, Izham Tarmizi Roslan.
The 21-year-old midfielder then added a second goal in the 59th minute through an interesting shot after receiving a pass from Quentin Cheng.
Sri Pahang’s goal missed again in the 67th minute and this time it was Faisal Halim’s turn to score as a scorer before Brendan Gan completed Selangor’s stylish victory when he scored the Red Giants’ fourth goal, five minutes later.
The result also saw Selangor become the first team to break Sri Pahang’s unbeaten record after nine games this season, including eight in the Super League and one in the FA Cup.
Selangor FC will then face Negeri Sembilan FC in the quarter-finals, which play on 27-28 May.
