Johor Darul Ta’Zim reached to final 3rd time consecutive after beating Kedah Darul Aman scoring 3-0 in the Piala FA Malaysia 2024/25 semi-final 2nd leg at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
From the start of the match, JDT came close to scoring in the third minute when Arif Aiman Hanapi’s cross found Oscar Arribas, whose header set up Heberty Fernandes. However, Kedah’s goalkeeper, Kalamullah Al-Hafiz Mat Rowi, made a brilliant save to keep the ball out.
Despite continuous pressure from JDT, Kedah’s defense, along with Kalamullah’s agility, kept the scoreline goalless in the first half. Bergson da Silva, Fernandes, and Juan Muniz all had attempts thwarted by Kalamullah and a well-organized Kedah defense.
In the second half, JDT’s persistence paid off in the 50th minute. A set-piece initiated by Arif Aiman and Matthew Davies led to Feroz Baharuddin scoring the opening goal, putting JDT ahead 1-0 and 3-1 on aggregate.
Although Bergson da Silva had a goal disallowed in the 67th minute for offside, JDT continued their dominance. Bergson made up for it in the 76th minute, heading in a goal from a Muniz corner to make it 2-0.
JDT sealed the victory in the 82nd minute when Muniz, assisted by substitute Murilo Henrique, headed the ball into the right corner of the goal, securing a 3-0 win and a 5-1 aggregate triumph.
This victory sets up a final clash between JDT and Selangor on August 24 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
