ONE TIC 35: Johan Ghazali Avenges Paez Defeat to End Two-Fight Losing Streak
Malaysian Muay Thai star wins unanimous decision in Bangkok rematch
Malaysian Muay Thai star Johan “Jojo” Ghazali ended a two-fight losing run in ONE Championship by beating American Diego Paez by unanimous decision at ONE: The Inner Circle 35 at Lumpinee Stadium, Bangkok, on Friday.
The 19-year-old’s win was a double celebration. It snapped his slide and also avenged a defeat to Paez, who beat him on the judges’ scorecards in their first meeting in June last year.
Since that loss, Ghazali has fought four times, winning two and losing two. One of the defeats came against Lebanon’s Ramadan Ondash. The rematch with the Colombian-American Paez was seen as a chance to get back to winning ways in the flyweight Muay Thai division.
The two traded blows from the start in a fierce three-round fight. When the scorecards were read at the end, all three judges gave the win to Ghazali.
The result leaves Paez still looking for a win. He lost to “Black Panther” at ONE Fight Night 42 in April.
