Selangor FC still is the ‘King’ of Klang Valley after beating Kuala Lumpur City with a score of 2-0 in the ‘Klang Valley Derby’ in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
Playing in front of tens of thousands of home fans, Selangor FC started off fiercely as they often made dangerous attacks in search of the first goal.
Selangor FC had a chance to take the lead in the 23rd minute, but the crossbar blocked Yohandry Orozco’s shot from outside the penalty area, giving the visitors a reprieve.
KL City, who occasionally make dangerous attacks on the home team, also had a chance to take the lead, but their captain, Paulo Josue’s kick in the 32nd minute was slightly missed even though the opponent’s goal was wide open.
Selangor FC’s long-awaited goal finally materialized in the 39th minute through Harith Haiqal, who cleverly finished off the opportunity after KL City goalkeeper Kevin Mendoza failed to clear the free kick to make it 1-0.
Entering the second half, the match was more balanced when both teams pushed each other in an effort to tear down the opponent’s fortress.
However, things turned out differently when Selangor FC added to KL City’s suffering with a second goal in the 76th minute through their sensational striker, Ayron del Valle to make it 2-0.
However, in the rest period, no more goals, and end at Selangor FC secure a win by a score of 2-0,
