Perak FC keep 1 point in away match after tied with Penang FC scoring 3-3 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang.
The match began with Penang FC’s Australian striker, Dylan Wenzel-Halls, dominating the first half by scoring a sensational hat-trick within just 20 minutes. His first goal in the 13th minute was a composed finish after capitalizing on a deflected ball that left Perak’s goalkeeper, Haziq Nadzli, helpless.
Four minutes later, Wenzel-Halls doubled Penang’s advantage, connecting with a precise through ball from Rodrigo Dias. He completed his hat-trick in the 33rd minute with a brilliant assist from Syamer Kutty Abba, showcasing his sharp finishing and clinical positioning.
Despite trailing 3-1, Perak FC fought back courageously. Their captain, Luciano Guaycochea, reduced the deficit in the 21st minute with a powerful shot into the box, exploiting a lapse in Penang’s defense.
The second half saw Perak turning the tide. A Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review confirmed a penalty for Perak after Wan Zack Haikal was brought down in the box by Syamer Kutty’s hand. Clayton Da Silva made no mistake from the spot, converting the penalty in the 61st minute to bring Perak within one goal of the hosts.
Six minutes later, Adilet Kanybekov equalized with a clinical finish after Penang’s defense failed to clear the ball during a chaotic moment in their penalty area.
The match, played under light rain and gusty winds, ended 3-3, with both teams taking a valuable point from the fiercely contested game.
This result keeps Penang FC in 11th place with 15 points, while Perak FC remain in 8th place with 19 points.
