Kuala Lumpur City continued their winning momentum after defeating PDRM FC 3-1 in the latest Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
Fresh from edging Penang FC 2-1 in their previous outing, The City Boys were chasing a third straight victory. The Cops, meanwhile, were hoping to secure their first league win of the season in Cheras.
New signing Victor Ruiz began the match on the bench for KL City, while PDRM looked to striker Henri Doumbia to lead their attacking line.
The home side pressed for an opener through the attacking quartet of Kpah Sherman, Safawi Rasid, Nicolao Cardoso, and captain Paulo Josue. Their persistence paid off in the 25th minute when Safawi Rasid struck from close range — his third goal for KL City — to send the home fans into celebration.
Stung by the goal, PDRM, coached by Eddy Gapil, sought an equalizer, but KL City’s defense, marshalled superbly by Giancarlo Gallifuoco, proved unyielding. The City Boys carried their 1-0 lead into halftime.
After the restart, KL City intensified their attacks and doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute. Sherman turned provider, setting up Josue, who calmly slotted past PDRM goalkeeper Ifwat Akmal Chek Kassem to make it 2-0.
In response, PDRM introduced Fadi Awad and Fakhrul Azim Mohd Zulphatah to strengthen their midfield and attacking transitions. However, their misery deepened in the 74th minute when VAR confirmed a foul inside the box, awarding KL City a penalty. Cardoso stepped up and confidently dispatched his effort, extending the lead to 3-0.
Ruiz thought he had marked his debut with a goal in the 83rd minute, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The visitors salvaged a late consolation in the 89th minute through captain Kyaw Min Oo, who rifled home a thunderous free-kick beyond KL City’s Quincy Kammeraad to make it 3-1.
The final whistle confirmed KL City’s commanding win, which lifts them to the top of the Super League table with 10 points. PDRM, meanwhile, slipped to seventh place on three points.
Next up, KL City face Brunei DPMM FC on 22 September, while PDRM will look to bounce back against Kelantan The Real Warrior FC (KTRW FC) on 20 September.
