The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has imposed a fine of THB 1,000,000(RM129,908) on Lampang FC after the club officially withdrew from competing in the 2025/26 Thai League 2 season.
The punishment comes after Lampang FC submitted a letter on 18 July 2025, notifying the FAT of its decision to pull out due to shareholder restructuring issues. The club stated it could not prepare players or internal management in time for the new season.
As a result, the FAT was forced to find a replacement to maintain the league’s 18-team structure. Under competition regulations, Pattaya United, who were set for relegation, will now remain in Thai League 2 for the 2025/26 season in place of Lampang FC.
According to Article 9.2 of the FAT’s professional league competition regulations, Lampang FC’s withdrawal constitutes a violation. The Disciplinary Committee ruled unanimously to impose the following penalties:
- A fine of THB 1,000,000(RM129,908).
- Full compensation for any actual damages incurred by the FAT or relevant parties.
- Repayment of all financial support previously received.
- Termination of Lampang FC’s membership within the FAT.
Additionally, under Article 68.4 of FAT’s governance regulations, the committee also resolved to propose Lampang FC’s formal expulsion from FAT membership to the Executive Committee, citing breach of competition rules.
