Port FC have continued their aggressive recruitment drive ahead of the 2026/27 season after reaching an agreement to sign Oman national team striker Essam Al-Subhi, adding one of the Gulf region’s most experienced forwards to their squad.
The Thai League giants have reportedly completed negotiations with the 29-year-old attacker, with only a medical examination and the signing of official contract documents remaining before the transfer is finalized.
Al-Subhi is expected to play a key role in Port FC’s ambitions as the club prepares to compete across five competitions during the upcoming season.
The arrival of the Oman international marks Port FC’s second foreign signing of the transfer window, following the acquisition of Brazilian winger Bruno Moreira, as the club continues to strengthen its roster for a demanding campaign.
Al-Subhi joins the Lions after an impressive season with Iraqi powerhouse Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, where he played a crucial role in helping the club secure its eighth Iraqi Premier League title.
During the championship-winning campaign, the striker made 35 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists. His contributions saw him finish as the club’s second-highest scorer before his contract expired at the end of the season.
Known for his physical presence, intelligent movement, and ability to lead the attacking line, Al-Subhi arrives at PAT Stadium carrying a reputation as one of Oman’s most reliable forwards.
At international level, Al-Subhi has established himself as a key figure for the Oman national team, earning 65 caps and scoring 21 goals for his country.
The striker is also a familiar name to Malaysian football fans, having found the back of the net against Malaysia during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 clash on 21 March 2024, a match that highlighted his ability to perform on the biggest stages in Asian football.
Throughout his international career, he has featured in some of Asia’s most prestigious competitions, including the AFC Asian Cup and FIFA Arab Cup. He was also part of the Oman side that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Gulf Cup and helped the nation secure third place at the 2025 Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship, where Oman participated as a guest team.
Most recently, Al-Subhi played an important role in Oman’s successful qualification campaign, helping the national team advance to the final 18-team stage of the AFC qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For Port FC, the signing represents another statement of intent as the club seeks to challenge for major honours both domestically and on the continental stage.
