Kedah Darul Aman, a club in Liga Super Malaysia announced that it has received funding approval for the purpose of settling salaries arrears.
Following the official news published by Sang Kenari, Acting Chairman of the Executive Board of KDA FC, Shahrul Samsudin said, the owner of KDA FC, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, Member of the Board of Directors and management of KDA FC takes responsibility with full dedication in handling emerging issues, especially aspects of financial sustainability with sincerity and sense of responsibility.
1. The Board of Directors unanimously agreed to share the current status of the club, particularly the direction of Kedah Darul Aman Football Club (KDA FC), in terms of administration, finance, and planning for the 2024/25 season.
2. Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, majority owner, the Board of Directors, and the management of KDA FC assume full responsibility with dedication in addressing emerging issues, especially financial sustainability, with transparency and a sense of responsibility.
3. The following feedback pertaining to the club’s status in the 2024/25 season:
A. The management of KDA FC has been informed by the MFL First Instance Body (FIB) Club Licensing that KDA FC has been granted until March 5, 2024, as the deadline for settling outstanding salaries for the 2023 financial year, before the MFL Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting on March 6, 2024.
B. In the recent development concerning the settlement of salary arrears, the management of KDA FC, led by Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, has secured approval of fund financing from relevant institution to address the outstanding payments. However, the funds will only be disbursed in April;
C. In light of the constraints to meet the requirements before the deadline set by the MFL First Instance Body (FIB), KDA FC is diligently working to obtain advance funding for the immediate payment to all players and staff of the KDA FC teams participating in the Malaysian League, as well as the club’s administrative staff.
D. Despite grappling with financial sustainability issues last season, the management remains focused on preparing KDA FC teams for the 2024-2025 season. The preparation process has reached 85%, but all steps are contingent on resolving the financial arrears of the 2023 year. Therefore, announcements regarding the teams and sponsorship will only be made after the main issue is resolved.
E. The KDA FC Super League team plans to commence pre-season training for 2024/25 in the coming week.
4. The Board of Directors is deeply moved by the commitment shown by all individuals involved in this financial issue, as they continue to be committed and loyal to KDA FC. Cooperation and understanding of the current situation, maintaining harmony with the management, players, and staff in this matter, provide motivation and positive signs for resolving the ongoing crisis.
5. Communication between the management of KDA FC and all parties is a priority and is regularly conducted with relevant parties to convey the current progress status of settling outstanding payments through representatives of players, club officials, and both verbal and written communications to the stakeholders of the Malaysian League, namely MFL and FAM.
6. Besides fostering collaboration through investments, sponsorship, and partnerships for the 2024/25 season, KDA FC consistently opens its doors to any interested parties willing to propose immediate resolution pathways through suitable channels and methods, avoiding any negative assumptions about the club’s administration. All contributions must follow the proper procedures and financial governance. Suggestions are highly welcomed to generate more new ideas to overcome the current financial issues facing the club.
7. The Board of Directors extends millions of thanks to the loyal fans, players who give their all on the field, and the dedicated staff performing their duties. Without the support and collective effort, we would not have achieved the level of progress and success that we have enjoyed so far.
