Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) is set to embark on a pre-season tour in Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2025/26 football season as part of their rigorous preparation for both domestic and international competitions, including the AFC Champions League Elite.
The Acting Sultan of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), confirmed the news via his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that the Harimau Selatan squad will undergo high-intensity training during the tour.
JDT’s commitment to thorough pre-season preparations is well-documented. Before the current season, the Hector Bidoglio-led team played seven friendly matches during a successful training stint in Spain. The previous season also saw the team travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for pre-season preparations.
“It is already in the planning,” TMJ said, signaling that the Saudi tour will serve as another key step in their journey toward success.
In an exciting development, TMJ hinted at the possibility of a warm-up match with European powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This follows a recent meeting between TMJ and PSG representatives aimed at fostering a long-term partnership between the two clubs.
Key areas of collaboration include grassroots development, infrastructure improvements, branding initiatives, and technological expertise sharing.
“This year or next year. Many more short-term and long-term agreements between JDT and PSG will follow this year,” TMJ revealed.
The 2024 FA Cup champions continue to position themselves as a leading force in Southeast Asian football. With ambitious plans for global collaborations and high-quality preparation tours, JDT is laying the groundwork for sustained success both on and off the field.
