Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan, a Malaysian Women’s pair has reached to final Women’s Doubles of the Li-Ning Hong Kong Open 2024 at Hong Kong Coliseum, Hong Kong.
Their impressive victory came against the world’s second-ranked pair, Baek Ha-Na and Lee So-Hee from South Korea, in a three-set thriller, 22-20, 17-21, 21-15.
The match saw Pearly and Thinaah showing their resilience, especially in the first set where they were down 14-19 but made a stunning comeback to win 22-20. Despite losing the second set 17-21 after an initial 5-0 lead, the Malaysian duo bounced back to dominate the third set 21-15, securing their spot in the final after over an hour of play.
This win is their third victory in five meetings against Ha Na and So Hee, repeating their success from the South Korea Open, where they had also beaten the same opponents before finishing as runners-up.
They will face either Kim So Yeong-Kong Hee Yong from South Korea or the Chinese second seeds, Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning, in the final.
