Helmi Azman, Malaysia’s sole wildcard rider, maintained his standing from last year with a 23rd overall finish in the Moto2 race at the Sepang International Circuit.
Representing the PETRONAS MIE Racing RW Team, Helmi demonstrated resilience on home ground but expressed a desire for even stronger results, acknowledging areas for improvement.
“Honestly, I don’t know the exact race circumstances at all times; I focused mainly on my lap records,” Helmi shared. “I knew there were riders behind me and that the pack was close. This race pushed me to my limits, especially since it was longer than the ARRC races, which are only 11 laps.”
Despite the challenges, Helmi remains optimistic and determined to improve. “If given more opportunities, I’ll work harder. I’m confident I can perform better and hope to approach future races with a more positive outlook,” he told Astro Arena reporter Faizal Bazari.
Meanwhile, Celestino Vietti of the Red Bull KTM Ajo team emerged victorious in the Moto2 category, marking a high point in his season and solidifying his seventh place in the overall standings with 165 points. “It was a challenging race under intense heat, but we gave our all after a positive start on Friday,” Vietti said. He expressed gratitude to his team for their tireless support and preparation.
Both riders showcased remarkable efforts, with Helmi setting his sights on future growth and Vietti celebrating a hard-fought victory in the Malaysian heat.
