Esteban Solari, head coach of Johor Darul Ta’Zim, has high hopes of pulling off a surprise in a match against Ulsan Hyundai in the AFC Champions League 2023/24 Group Stage, Group I at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri tomorrow night.
In addition, Solari revealed this match is not a ‘life or death’ mission for JDT and looking this is everything has to be consistent and maintain a high-intensity game pattern.
“Yes, we will be playing against the Korean league champions, but that is not a reason for us to respect them too much, on the contrary, all JDT players are very motivated and always focused, even aware of the importance of tomorrow night’s action.
“We have to work harder, and the players are aware of what needs to be done later, especially in the first half of the match because facing Ulsan requires a strong mentality to balance the opponent’s strength.”
“Armed with a satisfactory performance in the Super League and Malaysia Cup semi-finals, we want something in the ACL competition, and it is not a life or death mission because in the game of football everything has to be consistent and maintain a high-intensity game pattern,”
“If we look at the last game, we learned a lot from what happened after they scored a goal and it also happened against BG Pathum United and it cannot happen again because it will affect our game.:”
“So we have to try to dominate the game and try to play offensively in addition to tidying up the defence which is quite loose when it is so easy to open up space for the opponent to score goals,”
