Iran national team qualified for the round of 16 after beating Hong Kong national team, scoring 1-0 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group C at Khalifa International Stadium.
Iran, who went down as the favorite team, was surprised by Hong Kong’s energetic action at the beginning of the game, which almost opened the scoring through Everton Camargo.
Jolted, Iran continued to plan the attack and managed to score the first goal of the match after Mehdi Ghayedi’s swipe found the net in the 24th minute.

This result saw Iran remain at the top of the group with the maximum six points, followed by the UAE with 4 points in second place and Palestine and Hong Kong complete the group C chart.
