Faisal Halim, midfielder of Malaysia’s national team, admitted that he would be very heartened if the best network he made in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 were nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) officially announced that Faisal’s goal, was announced as the best goal in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 through the supporter’s draw, as well as winning the best goal on the Asian continent.
For the record, Faisal won the highest number of draws opened on the AFC social page when he saw that he won 85% of the draws to leave far behind seven other competitors.
“For me, if my goal were nominated for Puskas (FIFA), it would be quite big. Actually, it would be quite a big award. But as a player, I would be very proud if I was listed.” Faisal said.
“To win is certainly a long way from that award, but we don’t know our fortune. I have won the Asian Cup (best goal of the tournament) and this is also meaningful for me.”
“He is the greatest gift in my life and I will remember this memory forever. I don’t think I want to think too much about Puskas, I don’t want to focus too much. My focus now is on the national team and my club,”
