Aliff Sor.Dechapan, a 20-year-old Thai-Malay rising star, is set to face Brazil’s Walter Gonsalves, a 26-year-old Muay Thai veteran, in a strawweight (115-125 lbs) Muay Thai bout at ONE 169. The event will be held at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Saturday, November 9.
Alif earned his ONE Championship contract after a string of four consecutive wins at ONE Lumpinee, but his journey in the organization has been mixed so far. After a unanimous decision loss to Zhang Peimian in his kickboxing debut at ONE Lumpinee 58 in April 2024, Alif returned to Muay Thai at ONE Fight Night 23 but struggled with weight, ultimately losing to Ellis Barbosa by split decision. However, Alif bounced back with an emphatic first-round knockout of Zakaria El Jamari at ONE Fight Night 24, securing his first victory as a ONE athlete and earning a $50,000 bonus.
His opponent, Walter Gonsalves, is a seasoned fighter and the former WPMF 135-pound Muay Thai champion. Walter made his ONE debut at ONE: CENTURY PART II in a memorable title fight against Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship. Despite losing by split decision, he pushed the Thai champion to the limit. Walter also reached the semifinals of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix in 2022 but has struggled since, with a ONE Muay Thai record of 1 win in 5 fights. This match will mark his debut in the strawweight division as he looks to rejuvenate his career.
Both fighters have much at stake. Alif is aiming to build on his momentum and continue his winning streak, while Walter is making a crucial weight cut to secure a much-needed victory. With both fighters hungry for success, this bout promises to deliver high-octane action that fans won’t want to miss.
