ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) confirmed that the Malaysian U23 will face Laos U23 twice in the AFF U23 Championship 2022.
The decision was made in the spirit of sportsmanship because the Myanmar team which is in the same group with Malaysia and Laos has withdrawn because some of their players tested positive for COVID-19.
Although the Myanmar team had undergone tests before and after arriving in Cambodia, the number of positive cases in the country’s squad was increasing and the decision to withdraw was taken to minimize the risk of infection.
Based on the new schedule, Malaysia will face Laos on February 18 at Prince Stadium at 5.00 pm. Then, they will face the same opponent at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on February 21 at 8.00 pm.
The winner of these two matches will be crowned the champion of group B and qualify for the semi-finals.
