Peter Cklamovski, head coach of Malaysia national team remains undecided on whether to field Gabriel Palmero and Hector Hevel in Malaysia’s opening match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Round 3 against Nepal on March 25 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The national squad received a boost with the inclusion of Palmero, who plays for CD Tenerife B in Spain, and Hevel, a former ADO Den Haag academy graduate currently representing Portuguese second-division club Portimonense. Their potential debuts have generated excitement among fans eager to see how they fit into Cklamovski’s system.
When asked about their chances of starting, Cklamovski remained tight-lipped, urging fans to wait for the match.
“You have to watch the match tomorrow. We continue to be excited (about them),” he said with a smile during the pre-match press conference.
If selected, both players would earn their first international caps for Malaysia, adding fresh energy to the squad.
Beyond the overseas duo, Selangor FC defender Zikri Khalili is another name in the mix for a potential debut. The young defender has impressed in domestic competition and could be given the chance to prove himself on the international stage.
