Johor Darul Ta’Zim (JDT) continued their record-winning streak with a dominant 4-0 victory over Terengganu FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
JDT started fiercely, opening the scoring through a powerful kick by Heberty Fernandes as early as the 6th minute. Terengganu struggled without key attackers Akhyar and Safawi Rasid, leaving Ismaheel Akinade unsupported.
A costly mistake by Terengganu’s young defender Ubaidullah Shamsul resulted in a red card, and JDT capitalized on the penalty awarded to them. Bergson Da Silva converted the penalty with ease in the 32nd minute. Akinade’s injury further hampered Terengganu’s offensive efforts, leaving them at a disadvantage by the end of the first half.
In the second half, Terengganu’s attempts were thwarted by JDT’s robust defense. Bergson struck again, scoring JDT’s third goal and extinguishing any hopes of a Terengganu comeback. In the 93rd minute, Bergson completed his hat-trick, securing JDT’s 4-0 victory.
JDT strengthened their lead in the league with 18 points, while Terengganu remains in 4th place with 8 points and a game in hand. JDT will face PDRM next, and Terengganu will play against Negeri Sembilan on July 30, 2024.
