Kim Pan-gon, head coach of Malaysia national team, hopes that his team can give something positive in the last action of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group E against Korea Republic tomorrow.
Malaysia was eliminated after losing two matches to Jordan (0-4) and Bahrain (0-1), thus ending up at the bottom of the group without any points.
“I am aware of the level of the South Korean team as a giant team. But as a Malaysian coach, I want the team to show something for Malaysians.” Pan-gon said in the post-match press conference.
“It is important for us, and we give encouragement to the players so that they are not afraid and are braver to fight Korea Republic,”
“The time of the match is different compared to the previous match also gave us a challenge, but we hope to overcome that,”
In addition, Pan-gon doesn’t care about all the criticism thrown by netizens on his formation, which is alleged to have been interfered with by a third party after a few social media users were ‘vibrant’ and judging all the tactics and plans.
“I do not care. We have already improved last year to show our best performance, the best result for three years.” he said.
“On the side of my players, they are the best with what they can do. So I don’t care. I just look ahead.”
“It’s just that, as a good citizen, there’s no need to pay attention to the back door (allegations about unseen hands).”
“We will do great things to people. That’s important. So I think, you know, it’s better to move forward than look back,”
