The organising committee of the 33rd SEA Games 2025 has officially approved the relocation of all sports originally scheduled in Songkhla to Bangkok, following severe flooding in southern Thailand that has heavily impacted infrastructure, travel routes, and venue readiness.
The decision was finalised during the 2/2025 SEA Games & ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee Meeting, chaired by Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports. The meeting was attended by key officials including Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, executives from national sports associations, and representatives from the National Sports Development Fund.
The committee confirmed that persistent flooding in Songkhla—one of the main provincial hosts for the Games taking place from 9–20 December 2025—has caused significant damage, leaving no guarantee of recovery in time.
Songkhla was initially set to host 10 sports across Hat Yai and Mueang districts, while one event originally set for Chonburi will also be shifted.
To ensure safety and international competition standards, all affected events have been reassigned to alternative venues in Bangkok (and one in Chonburi).
