Johor Darul Ta’Zim takes advantage in the first leg after invading to win Sabah FC with a score of 1-0 in the TM Piala Malaysia 2022 Semi-Final 1st leg at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
The match that started rather hot which saw some commotion could be seen throughout the 90 minutes of play with a red card shown to JDT by the referee, Razlan Joffri Ali.
Sabah FC goalkeeper Damien Lim was the busiest player in the first half after brilliantly denying some of JDT’s best chances which started as early as the third minute through Bergson da Silva and in the 26th minute apart from Arif Aiman Hanapi’s attempt (14th minute).
The hosts were unlucky when Park Tae Su’s header landed on the bar in the 17th minute before Taiki Kagayama’s follow-up attempt hit Farizal Marlias.
However, Sabah FC survived even though they lost their goal in the 22nd minute from Bergson’s header when the net was canceled after the JDT striker was in an offside state.
JDT’s goal came in the 33rd minute through Arif Aiman, who had ‘bubbled’ past Sabah FC’s defense before releasing a long shot that killed Damien for the first goal of the visitors.
Continuing the second half, JDT missed the opportunity to add to the network when Arif’s attractive delivery in the 48th minute failed to be struck by Fernando Forestieri.
Bergson continued to be disappointed in the 58th minute, this time after the penalty kick he took was successfully read correctly by Damien who threw his body to the right of the goal goal to deny JDT’s second goal.
JDT was forced to play with 10 men after their defense, Muhammad Feroz Baharudin was sent a second yellow card in the 72nd minute despite making a clean blow to Saddil Ramdani.
That advantage was not enough to help the Badak squad get an equalizing goal and the position remained 1-0 so the final whistle sounded.
