Johor Darul Ta;Zim is still on top flight in the table after beating Shah Alam City scoring 6-5 in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League Division 1 2024 at MBPG Indoor Stadium, Pasir Gudang.
Fresh from a resounding 7-1 triumph over Terengganu last Wednesday, JDT aimed to extend their lead over their nearest rivals, Pahang Rangers, who currently sit in second place.
Under the management of Miguel Garcia, JDT fielded their best lineup with Aiman Fiqry back in goal. Shah Alam City relied on their imports, Kelwin Soares and Isaias Figueiredo, to lead their attack.
The home team dominated ball possession from the start, with early attempts by Awalluddin Mat Nawi and JDT’s new import, Bruno Taffy, narrowly missing the target. However, Shah Alam City struck first when their captain, Farhan Anuar, scored from a volley after a lapse in JDT’s defense.
Shah Alam City capitalized on JDT’s defensive errors, with Zainal Abidin and Isaias Figueiredo extending their lead to 0-3. JDT responded quickly with goals from Firdaus Ambiah and Bruno Taffy, reducing the deficit. Firdaus Ambiah scored again before halftime, leveling the score at 3-3.
In the second half, JDT took the lead with Ridzwan Bakri’s goal, following up on Abu Haniffa’s shot that hit the post. Abu Haniffa then extended JDT’s lead, thrilling the home fans.
Shah Alam City’s coach, Muizzudin Haris, employed a quick counter-attack strategy, which eventually paid off. Aliff Roslan and Kelwin Soares scored late goals to tie the game at 5-5. However, in the final moments, Bruno Taffy scored the decisive sixth goal for JDT, securing a hard-fought victory.
The match ended 6-5 in favor of JDT, keeping them at the top of the league with a perfect 27 points from nine games. Shah Alam City, on the other hand, fell to fourth place with 16 points.
