Johor Darul Ta’zim Futsal have strengthened their squad ahead of the new campaign with the signing of Spanish international futsal star Andres Alcantara Prieto, as known ‘Andresito’.
The 34-year-old, a former champion of the UEFA Futsal Championship 2016, was officially unveiled by the club through a statement released on their official platforms.
According to the club announcement, Prieto arrives from Japanese powerhouse Nagoya Oceans, the reigning champions of Japan’s top-tier futsal league.
“JDT Futsal have signed Spanish international Andrès Alcàntara Prieto to strengthen the team for the upcoming Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL) 2026 season,” the club confirmed.
Prieto becomes the latest addition to the squad as Johor Darul Ta’zim Futsal prepare for another title challenge in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League.
The Southern Tigers’ futsal side have been actively strengthening their roster after winning the 2024 MPFL title, aiming to remain among the dominant forces in Malaysian futsal.
Prior to Prieto’s arrival, JDT had already secured the services of former Pahang Rangers players Zainulzahin Sinuan and Norakmal Norizal.
The squad, currently led by former Bahrain national futsal team coach Joao Almeida, has also added promising young goalkeeper Ammar Harith Mohammad from the Malaysia U19 futsal team.
Prieto’s vast international experience is expected to provide leadership, tactical intelligence and winning mentality within the team.
Having competed at the highest levels of European and Asian futsal, the Spanish veteran could prove to be a key figure in JDT’s ambitions for the upcoming season.
