Marselino Ferdinan, midfielder Indonesia national team age,19 move to joined Oxford United, a club in SkyBet Championship in the season 2024/25 after left from KMSK Deinze after ended of the last season.
“The 19-year-old forward arrives in Oxford with 26 caps for his country and three goals, and last year helped Indonesia Under-22s win the Southeast Asian Games for the first time in 32 years.” OUFC said in the official statement.
Marselino has made 26 caps for Indonesia and three goals, and he was a crucial part of Indonesia’s U22 team that won the Southeast Asian Games for the first time in 32 years and holds the distinction of being Indonesia’s youngest international goalscorer, as well as the youngest goalscorer in AFC Asian Cup history.
Marselino was also instrumental in leading the Indonesian U23 team to the semifinals of the 2024 AFC U-23 Championship and into the Olympic play-offs against Guinea in Paris last May.
Upon joining Oxford United, Marselino expressed his excitement and pride at the opportunity, stating, “I’m thrilled and still can’t believe I’m here. Being the first Indonesian-born player to play in the Championship if selected fills me with immense pride. I won’t take this opportunity for granted, and I’ll give 100% to make the most of it.”
Oxford United’s Head Coach, Des Buckingham, highlighted Marselino’s potential, calling him “a young exciting player” with plenty of attributes that the club looks for in a player. Buckingham, who has experience working in Asia, is eager to see how Marselino progresses and integrates into the team.
Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations at Oxford United, also expressed enthusiasm about Marselino’s arrival, noting that the club has strong ties with Indonesia and has been aware of Marselino’s talent for some time. While Marselino is unproven at the Championship level, Waldron is confident in the young player’s abilities and looks forward to seeing how he adapts to life at Oxford United.
