Selangor FC turned on the style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Melaka FC in a rescheduled of Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
The Red Giants lined up with Kalamullah Al-Hafiz guarding the posts, while the attacking burden was led by fan favourites Faisal Halim and Chrigor Moraes. Melaka, meanwhile, entrusted Jun Badelic between the sticks, with Shahrel Fikri spearheading the attack and Irfan Zakaria wearing the captain’s armband.
Selangor wasted no time asserting dominance. Jordanian import Noor Al-Rawabdeh broke the deadlock as early as the second minute, giving the hosts the perfect start. The pressure continued relentlessly and Melaka’s resistance cracked again in the 10th minute, when Alvin Fortes unleashed a thunderous strike that flew past Badelic.
Just three minutes later, Selangor delivered the decisive blow. Chrigor Moraes showed composure inside the box to slot home the third goal — his second of the match — effectively killing off the contest within the opening quarter-hour.
Melaka attempted to respond through Shahrel Fikri’s individual efforts, but the final touch deserted them as Selangor continued to dominate possession and chances. The first half ended with the hosts firmly in control at 3-0.
After the restart, Selangor maintained a high tempo, refusing to sit back. Fortes nearly added his second in the 57th minute, only to be denied by an excellent save from Badelic. Melaka struggled for ideas as Selangor’s defence stood resolute, snuffing out every attacking attempt.
With the scoreboard unchanged by the 70th minute, Selangor calmly saw out the match to seal a convincing home win.
The result sees Selangor climb to third place in the Liga Super standings with 25 points, level on points with Kuching City (second) and just ahead of KL City (fourth), separated only by goal difference — highlighting the intense battle at the top of the table.
For Melaka, the woes continue. They remain second from bottom with just six points after 12 matches, facing an uphill battle to escape the relegation zone.
