Malaysia’s mixed doubles challenge at the Victor Korea Open 2025 (BWF World Tour Super 500) ended in the quarterfinal stage after both national pairs bowed out to higher-ranked opponents in Seoul.
In their maiden quarterfinal appearance at Super 500 level, Wong Tien Ci – Lim Chiew Sien were outplayed by Denmark’s experienced duo Mathias Christiansen – Alexandra Bøje, losing 12-21, 8-21 in straight games. Despite the defeat, the young Malaysians reached a significant milestone, marking their first-ever last-eight finish of the season at this level.
Meanwhile, fifth-seeded pair Goh Soon Huat – Shevon Lai endured a tough battle against China’s world No. 2 pair Jiang Zhen Bang – Wei Ya Xin. After losing the opening game 9-21, the Malaysians fought back valiantly to take the second game 21-18. However, Jiang and Wei regained control in the decider, sealing the match 21-8.
The result marked Goh and Lai’s back-to-back Korea Open quarterfinals and their eighth last-eight finish of the season, underlining their consistency on the tour.
