Malaysia Women’s National Team produced a disciplined first-half display but were ultimately defeated 2-0 by the Palestine Women’s National Team in an international friendly after a decisive second-half surge from their opponents.
Seeking to gain valuable match experience and continue their development on the international stage, Malaysia matched Palestine throughout a competitive opening 45 minutes and showed encouraging signs despite the eventual defeat.
The Malaysian side remained organized defensively during the first half, frustrating Palestine’s attacking efforts and limiting clear scoring opportunities. Their disciplined approach ensured the teams went into the halftime break deadlocked at 0-0.
Malaysia looked capable of challenging for a positive result as the contest remained evenly balanced heading into the second half.
However, the turning point arrived in the 59th minute when Palestine struck twice in quick succession.
The breakthrough came through Florencia Sabat, who capitalized on a promising attacking move to put Palestine ahead. Moments later, before Malaysia could regroup, Dalia Assad added a second goal to complete a devastating spell of attacking football that shifted the momentum firmly in Palestine’s favour.
Despite falling two goals behind, Malaysia continued to battle and attempted to find a route back into the match. The squad showed determination and resilience, pushing forward in search of a breakthrough while remaining committed to their attacking principles.
However, Palestine’s defence stood firm and prevented Malaysia from reducing the deficit, ultimately preserving a clean sheet until the final whistle.
While the result ended in disappointment, the match provided another valuable international test for the Malaysian women’s squad as they continue to build experience against quality opposition.
The encounter also highlighted several positives for Malaysia, particularly their ability to compete evenly during the first half and maintain defensive structure for long periods against an aggressive Palestinian side.
