The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), today announced assistant national head coach, Elangovan Elavarasan as the new Malaysia U23 head coach to prepare the team for several major tournaments next year.
These include the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in May 2023, the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September 2023 as well as the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification which is also the 2024 Olympic Qualification.
Also introduced is the coaching line of the Malaysia U23 squad consisting as follows
Assistant Head Coach : Juan Torres Garrido (Spain)Â
Fitness Trainer : Park Ji-Hyeon (Korea Republic)
Performance Analysis Coach :Â Lee Je-Yoon (Korea Republic)
Goalkeeper Coach : Kris Yong Wai Hang (Malaysia)
The media conference which took place at FAM HQ, Kelana Jaya, this morning was also attended by FAM Deputy President, Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi and Dato’ S. Sivasundaram;Â FAM Vice President, Mohd Joehari Ayub;Â The new General Secretary of FAM, Noor Azman Haji Rahman;Â FAM Technical Director, Scott O’Donell and FAM Exco, Christopher Raj as moderators of the press conference.
Despite being appointed as the Malaysia U23 head coach, Elavarasan, 60, still remains the assistant head coach of the national squad to Malaya Tigers manager Kim Pan Gon so that he can be the link between the two teams.
