Perak Football Association (PAFA) has issued an official statement acknowledging and respecting the decision made by XOX Berhad, the 100% shareholder of Perak FC, to withdraw the club from the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26, disband the team, and not send entries for the President’s Cup and Youth Cup competitions.
PAFA President Dato’ Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin expressed deep appreciation to XOX Berhad for their contributions to football in the state during their tenure.
“We fully respect XOX Berhad’s decision, as they hold full ownership of Perak FC. At the same time, we thank them for their support and commitment to the development of football in Perak through their management of the club,” said Dato’ Azhar in the statement.
While expressing sympathy for the players affected by the decision, especially the youth players, PAFA assured that it remains committed to supporting their future — both in terms of career development and football progression — based on its current capacity.
“We will do our best to ensure that grassroots and regional football development across Perak remains unaffected by this development,” Dato’ Azhar added.
In response to the situation, PAFA will now intensify its focus on grassroots football development, as mandated by the Perak State Government, with a strong emphasis on producing high-quality and high-integrity young talents.
PAFA’s immediate plans include the formation of the Perak SUKMA 2025/2026 squad, with the intention of giving the team competitive exposure in national leagues such as Liga A1 or A2.
Additionally, PAFA will consult with key stakeholders, including the State Government, Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Malaysian Football League (MFL), and Amateur Football League (AFL), before making any major strategic decisions moving forward.
Dato’ Azhar concluded by thanking all parties, especially the Chief Minister of Perak, for their continued support of PAFA’s football development programs.
